The beneficial-owner confirmation window: 1 October to 31 December 2026
Every Cyprus company confirms its beneficial owners in the Registrar's UBO Register each year. What is confirmed, who files it and what the penalties are.

What the UBO Register is
The UBO Register is the Registrar of Companies' register of beneficial owners: the people who ultimately own or control a Cyprus company. A beneficial owner is recorded whoever the registered shareholder is.
A company registers its beneficial owners within 90 days of incorporation, reports changes when they happen, and confirms the position once a year.
The window
The yearly confirmation window runs from 1 October to 31 December. Every company confirms its beneficial owners in that period, including a company whose owners have not changed and a company that has not traded. Confirming is not the same as updating: an update is filed when the ownership changes, in addition to the yearly confirmation.
Filing the Annual Return does not replace the confirmation, and the confirmation does not replace the Annual Return. They are two separate obligations to the same Registrar.
Who files, and how
The filing is made online through the Registrar's UBO portal, reached with the company's CY Login. It can be made by the company itself or by a firm acting for it. We file the confirmation for our clients as part of the yearly filings, after checking with you that nothing has changed.
The confirmation needs the company's CY Login credentials, the current list of beneficial owners with their identity details and the nature and extent of each person's interest.
Penalties
Missing the window costs €100 on the first day of non-compliance and €50 for each further day, up to €5,000. The penalty attaches to the company and is paid before the position can be put right. A company that keeps failing to comply also risks the Registrar's wider enforcement.
Checklist
- Confirm who the beneficial owners are today, including anyone who acquired or lost an interest during the year.
- Have the company's CY Login credentials to hand, or make sure the firm that files for you has them.
- File between 1 October and 31 December; do not wait for the last week, when the portal is busiest.
- Keep the confirmation receipt with the company's statutory records.
