Updated
The short version
- Lebanese citizens need a visa; a valid Schengen visa may be accepted instead.
- Lebanon is on the EU's high-risk list, so banks run extra checks: the file has to be complete.
- The Lebanon–Cyprus tax treaty has applied since 2005.

- Why do Cyprus banks ask Lebanese clients more questions?Because Lebanon is on the EU's list of high-risk third countries for money laundering since 2025, so EU banks must apply enhanced checks to business linked to it. Expect more paperwork and a slower account opening.
- Can I move my business from Lebanon to Cyprus through the fast-track route?Through a Cyprus company of foreign interests, registered with the Business Facilitation Unit of the Business Support Centre. It needs an initial investment of at least €200,000 and an office lease of at least 12 months, in premises separate from any home.
