Are EMI balances covered by the deposit guarantee?
Short answer
No. A bank deposit in the EU is covered by a deposit guarantee scheme up to €100,000 per depositor; an EMI balance is not.
EMIs must keep client funds separate from their own and safeguard them. For larger balances, the choice of provider and the spread of funds matter.
