Do Germans need a visa or permit to live in Cyprus?
Short answer
No. As an EU citizen you can live and work in Cyprus freely. If you stay longer than three months, you register with the Migration Department within four months of arriving and receive the registration certificate known as the yellow slip.
To register, you show that you work or run a business in Cyprus, or that you have enough money to live on and full health insurance.
What needs more planning is the German side: deregistering, keeping or giving up your German home, the exit tax on company shares and the German rules that can follow you abroad. The answers below cover each one.

Tax and residence rules depend on your own circumstances and change; check your position with a tax adviser qualified in Germany and in Cyprus before you act on it.
