How long does a BFU residence and employment permit take?

Short answer

Two published timeframes apply: the Business Support Centre registers an eligible company in the Register of Companies with Foreign Interests within ten business days of a complete application, and the Migration Department's policy sets the examination time for the residence and employment permit at one month.

The clock starts only when the file is complete. The €200,000 investment has to be in the company's account at a credit institution licensed by the Central Bank, not an electronic money institution, or spent on an office or equipment in the company's name, and made within the six months before the application. The application is made online through the company's own CY Login profile, and the registration is confirmed by email.

The permit application follows the registration. The employee needs a gross salary of at least €2,500 a month, relevant qualifications or two years' experience, and an employment contract of at least two years.

The elapsed time in practice is longer than the two official periods together, because the bank account, the investment, the office lease and the certified documents come first. We run these in parallel and tell you a realistic date before you commit.
