How many directors does a Cyprus private company need?
Short answer
At least one director, aged 18 or over, and one company secretary; a public company needs at least two directors. The sole director cannot also be the secretary, except in a private company with a single member.
The rule is in the Companies Law, Cap. 113, sections 170 and 171, and the Registrar's guidance adds the age of 18 for both roles. Nothing in those rules requires a director to live in Cyprus; whether you need a Cyprus-resident director is a separate, practical question about banks and tax residence.
A body corporate can hold either role, with one limit: a company cannot have as secretary a body whose sole director is the company's own sole director, or the reverse. The limit does not apply to a single-member private company.
The directors are people you choose and appoint. We do not supply directors or shareholders; the company secretary and the registered office are available through our licensed audit partner.
