What is the difference between the yellow slip and the pink slip?
Short answer
The yellow slip is the registration certificate (MEU1) for EU, EEA and Swiss citizens living in Cyprus. The pink slip is the everyday name for the visitor permit for people from outside the EU: a year at a time, with no right to work.
For the visitor permit, the Migration Department's checklist asks for an income of at least €2,000 a month (€24,000 a year) for one person, paid into a Cyprus bank account, plus 20% for a spouse and 15% for each child, and full health insurance.
A Category F permit is the permanent alternative for people living on their own income, also without the right to work: a secure income from abroad of at least €9,568 a year, plus €4,613 for each dependant. Since 1 September 2026, applications include medical tests done abroad.
