Is my German pension paid and taxed in Cyprus?
Short answer
The Deutsche Rentenversicherung pays pensions to people living in other EU countries, including Cyprus. A statutory pension stays German-source income, and the treaty lets Germany tax pensions paid under its social security system.
The Finanzamt Neubrandenburg is the central tax office for pensioners living abroad.
For health insurance, the country that pays your pension is responsible: if a German pension is your only income, you get form S1 from your Krankenkasse and register it in Cyprus. If you work in Cyprus, you are insured here.
