How long can a US citizen stay in Cyprus without a visa?
Short answer
Up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Cyprus is in the EU but not in the Schengen area, so days in Cyprus are counted separately from days in Schengen countries.
The State Department says your passport must be valid for at least three months after the date you leave; check its Cyprus page again before you travel, as these details change.
The EU's ETIAS travel authorisation will apply to Cyprus once it starts, which the European Commission expects in the last quarter of 2026. It is not running yet.
To stay longer, or to work, apply for a residence permit before the 90 days are used up.
