What happens to my Dutch health insurance, zorgtoeslag and kinderbijslag when I move to Cyprus?
Short answer
Dutch basic health insurance ends by law when you are no longer insured under the Wlz, which usually happens when you emigrate without Dutch income. Zorgtoeslag and kinderbijslag usually stop too.
Zorgtoeslag abroad needs a Dutch health insurance policy or cover through the CAK. Living outside the Netherlands without working usually means no kinderbijslag; if you work in Cyprus, Cypriot child benefit normally applies instead.
Check whether you qualify for Cyprus's General Healthcare System (GESY) before your Dutch insurance ends, and arrange private cover for any gap.
