Can I pay rent in cash in Cyprus?
Short answer
No. Since 1 July 2026, rent may be paid only by bank transfer, card or another recognised electronic payment.
The rule came in with the 2026 tax reform. Write the payment method into the rental agreement and keep the records: they are also your evidence of the tenancy.
