Can I move my UK limited company to Cyprus?
Short answer
Not its registration: UK law has no way for a company to move abroad, and the government's 2026 consultation on re-domiciliation proposed a route into the UK only. A UK company also stays UK tax resident wherever its owner lives.
A company incorporated in the UK is UK resident for tax. If you run it from Cyprus, Cyprus can treat it as resident too; the treaty then leaves the two tax authorities to agree where it belongs, looking at where it is effectively managed and where it was incorporated, and until they agree it loses most of the treaty's benefits.
That is why most founders who move set up a Cyprus company for the business they will run from Cyprus, and keep or close the UK company separately.
Dividends a UK company pays you while you live in Cyprus are exempt from UK tax under the treaty, apart from property income dividends from UK property investment funds. The five-year rule applies if you might return.
