Can I pay voluntary National Insurance from Cyprus after April 2026?

Short answer

Only Class 3, and only if you meet the stricter test that applies from 6 April 2026: ten years in a row living in the UK, or ten qualifying years of contributions. Class 2 can no longer be paid for time abroad.

Voluntary contributions fill gaps in your National Insurance record, which decides how much UK State Pension you receive. Until April 2026, three years of residence or contributions were enough.

If you applied for the 2024 to 2025 or 2025 to 2026 tax years by 5 April 2026, the old three-year rule can still apply to you, subject to the other conditions. You apply on form CF83. Class 3 costs £18.40 a week for 2026 to 2027.
